Weird SQL Server Enterprise Crash

I been struggling with a weird error with sql server enterprise manager. Every time I click on it, it crashes. On investigation, the log says SQL Server is terminating due to 'stop' request from Service Control Manager.

I tried installing msde, reinstalling sql server countless times, cleaning the registry etc, to no avail. I stumbled on this post, http://www.dbtalk.net/microsoft-public-sqlserver-tools/crash-enterprise-manager-strange-solution-267599.html The workaround is to rename the .msc file to another name besides sql server enterprise manager and it works.. I don't have a clue why that happens but..
